As part of efforts by the main opposition party, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to clench power in the 2012, it has organised a capacity building workshop for its constituency officers.
The workshop which took place on Tuesday aimed at drawing out a strategic plan to aid the NPP to wrest power from the National Democratic
Congress (NDC).
The event was attended by constituency officers and the executives of Tertiary Students Confederacy of the NPP (TESCON) in the Central Region.
Dr Arthur Kennedy one of the bigwigs of the party enumerated some key strategies the party could adopt to help in its bid in winning the 2012
general election.
These included the need for constituency and TESCON officers to embrace the Danquah-Busia philosophy which encompassed discipline and tolerance within the party, development of the rural areas, freedom and private property ownership.
Dr Kennedy said since the youth represented about 79 per cent of registered voters, NPP considered it essential and prudent to instil a
democratic culture in them.
He told the youth of the party that they had a duty to help restore confidence in the economy when NPP won Election 2012.
Dr Kennedy said the ruling NDC had been too slow in implementing its policies.
Making reference to President John Evans Atta Mills statement that 2011 would be a year of action he said it was an indication that the past two years had been "futile without any action".
Mr Kofi Wilson, former Municipal Chief Executive of Mfanstiman told the youth to contribute their quota for the victory of the party by penetrating and familiarising with the grassroots in their constituencies.
He encouraged them not to alienate themselves from the rural folks since a strong political party needed the input of all particularly those at the grassroots to ensure its stability.
Mr Wilson recounted "the misdemeanour" of NDC foot soldiers all over the country and entreated the young constituency officers to restrain from such acts.
Mr Francis Agyaaku Donkor, Regional Youth Organiser of the NPP said the youth wing of the party would not tolerate back biting among its rank and file and encouraged people campaigning for the parliamentary primaries to go about it in a decent manner.
