A 43-year-old trader charged with stealing eight full pieces of wax print and GH¢400.00 has been sentenced to 24 months imprisonment by the Nyinahin Magistrate Court.
Dawuda Mukai admitted the offence and appealed to the court to be compassionate to him.
Police Detective Inspector Osei Boadi told the court that the complainant, Sakina Mansah, lived at a cottage near Wansamire in the
Atwima-Mponua District.
On November 13, she left the house to the farm and while returning met the convict, who trades in wax prints, carrying his wares.
The prosecution said when she got home, she detected the theft of eight full pieces of wax print she had kept in her room together with
GH¢400.00.
She suspected Mukai and she made a report to the police and he was arrested.
When his room was searched the stolen items were uncovered hidden under his bed.
In his caution statement, the convict confessed to the crime of stealing the wax print but denied he stole the money.
