The Member of Parliament (MP) for Mfantseman East, Mr George Kuntu Blankson, has declared his intention to seek re-election to parliament for the third time in the 2012 general election.
Mr Kuntu Blankson, who is the Deputy Majority Whip in Parliament, contested the election on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in 2004 and 2008 and won to represent Mfantseman East Constituency in
Parliament.
The MP declared his intention at the inauguration of a three-unit Junior High School block at Ekumfi Akwakrom near Mankessim in the Mfantseman Municipality.
The block was constructed at a cost of GH36,800 with funds from the Ghana Education Trust Fund.
Mr Kuntu Blankson said he had initiated a number of projects for his constituents which enjoined him to go back to parliament in 2012 to ensure that the projects materialized.
He appealed to his constituents to rally behind the government adding that they would not be disappointed for that.
The MP appealed to parents to ensure that their children made very good use of the project by enrolling them in the school.
He expressed concern about the attitude of some parents who encouraged their children to abandon classes to go and do manual work at the Mankessim market, cautioning that "manual work in the market would not be able to reduce their poverty but giving good education to children can do it".
Mr Kuntu Blankson advised the pupils to set standards for themselves and strive to achieve them.
Nana Akwah IX, chief of the town, appealed to government to provide the town with potable water and toilet facilities.
