A group calling itself Concerned Youth of National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Asante Akim North Municipality have protested about "a clandestine move" to remove the Municipal Chief Executive, Mr. Thomas Osei-Bonsu, from office.
The group alleged that certain elements in the party at the regional and national levels had connived with the constituency executives to
remove Mr. Osei-Bonsu from office despite his excellent leadership since he assumed office.
They have, therefore, vowed to resist any attempt by some individuals to pursue their parochial interest at the expense of the stability of the party in the constituency.
These were contained in a statement issued by the group at Agogo and signed by its spokesperson, Elijah Kwasi Asamoah.
The statement alleged that Alhaji Sanni, the Regional Organiser and one national executive recently met the constituency executives at Konongo Zongo where they wrote and forwarded a petition to the Castle for the removal of the MCE from office.
It said the constituency executives had been a torn in the flesh of Mr Osei-Bonsu notwithstanding his persistent overtures to unite the party.
The statement refuted allegations that he had discriminated against people from the north.
"We are, therefore, appealing to your high office to scrutinize the allegations against the Municipal Chief Executive in order to save the party from collapse even though we are in power", the statement said.
