Women's groups, at a forum, in Kumasi, have asked for queens to be represented at the National House of Chiefs (NHC).
They said the present arrangement where queens are not included in the House is anomalous and should be urgently corrected.
They also want a National Commission on Gender established to oversee the implementation of the gender equality agenda.
The participants were making contributions towards the validation of gender-related proposals to be submitted to the Constitutional Review Commission, at the weekend.
The Network for Women's Rights in Ghana (NETRIGHT), a non-governmental organization, held the programme jointly with the Women's Manifesto Coalition and Window of Hope Foundation.
More than 150 women, drawn from various groups, including religious and NGOs, participated.
Mrs Chris Dadzie of the Integrated Social Centre for Development (ISODEC) said it was time issues affecting women were adequately captured in the Constitution.
She suggested that at least 50 per cent of Government's appointees to the Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies should be women.
The state should also take appropriate measures to address peculiar challenges facing women by acknowledging and supporting their contribution to household incomes and other resources.
She also highlighted the need to give more protection to groups marginalized on the basis of sex, age, gender and disability.
Mrs Dadzie said there should be legislative sanctions to prevent all forms of discrimination against women.
Mrs Hilary Gbedemah of the NETRIGHT said as a coalition of civil society organizations and individuals, her organization was working to promote gender justice in the society.
