A revered minister has said pastors should always concern themselves with issues affecting members of the society.
Very Rev Dr C.K. Coffie, Superintendent Minister In-charge of the Gethsemane Society of the Methodist Church at Afrancho, near Kumasi, said the gospel ministry should be holistic affecting people spiritually, economically and politically whiles also tackling environmental issues.
Preaching at a thanksgiving service organised by the Kwabre West Constituency of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) on Sunday, the Very Rev Dr Coffie said it was sad that some people wanted pastors to always concern themselves with the salvation of mankind and remain silent over political and economic issues affecting members of their congregation.
He said gospel Ministers were the mouthpiece of the people and there was the need for them to take part in public debates on economic, political and environmental issues affecting the people.
The Very Rev Dr Coffie advised gospels Ministers to always put their ears to the ground and listen to the problems of members of their congregation and try to help address them.
Odeneho Kwaku Appiah, Kwabre West constituency chairman of the NPP, said the service was to thank God for His mercies which ensured the smooth and violent free election of the party's flag-bearer recently.
He said Ghanaians are currently facing severe economic hardships due to bad governance and appealed to gospel Ministers to be bold and rise up and speak against bad governance.
