Nigeria striker Obafemi Martins has left the Africa Cup of Nations in Angola to appear in a London court.
He is due to return to Angola on Friday and should play against Benin on Saturday as Nigeria look to recover from an opening Group C loss to Egypt.
The Nigeria team's media officer Peterside Idah refuted claims that the Wolfsburg striker has a shin injury.
"He spoke to us before leaving - he has a genuine case to answer and he will be back tomorrow," Idah told BBC Sport.
"Obafemi is in London he has a case in court with his agent.
"The coach was aware but there was some debate over the actual date. Before he left he told us he only had to show himself in court as he didn't want to be in contempt of court.
"Last time the case came up he wasn't there and he didn't want the judge to throw him in jail if he doesn't show up or declare him wanted."
Idah also went on to refute rumours of a bust up within the Nigeria team.
"The talk of a bust up are just not true, we've had a series of meetings with the coach and the players to sort out a lot of things - but no bust up whatsoever," he said.
