Mr Kofi Mintah, a leading member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Central Region, has appealed to members and supporters of the party to make its national congress slated for Tamale this weekend incident-free.
"We must all resolve to come out of the congress more united as brothers and sisters who live under one umbrella," he said when he addressed
some delegates at Winneba.
Mr Mintah, a founding member of the party and a chairman of its Central Regional Disciplinary Committee, is contesting for the position of National Vice Chairman at the congress.
He urged delegates to note that the destiny of the NDC depended, to a large extent, on the outcome of the congress, so they should not go and toy
with the destiny by electing people who knew nothing about the party.
He advised delegates not to allow themselves to be influenced with money or any other form of gifts to vote for people who would not deliver.
"Do not expect anything from a person who bought your vote, when he or she wins an election," he stressed.
Mr Mintah, who was also a former Central Regional Chairman of the party, advised contestants for positions in the party to "play it clean," by
desisting from influencing the voting pattern.
"If we all regard ourselves as brothers and sisters and behave in a responsible manner, we will be contributing to the success of the congress,"
he said, and added that vying for positions must not be regarded as a 'do or die affair.'
Mr Mintah urged people who would have a role to play at the congress to be fair to all contestants and delegates.
"We must not drag the name of the party into mud because of the positions we want to hold," he said.
