Madam Anita Jemina Desosoo, a 49-year old politician, was on Saturday elected National Women's Organiser of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) at its congress in Winneba.
She polled 171 votes out of the total votes of 478 to beat three other constants for the position.
Hajia Marian Sinare, known as Iron lady, had 137 votes, Mrs Alice Teni Boon had 125 votes and Madam Doris Addo had 36 votes.
In another election for the position of first and second Deputy National Organizers, Madam Joyce Zenabu had 248 votes for the first Deputy Organiser position while Madam Margaret Chiravia obtained 201 votes to become the second Deputy Organizer.
The elections were conducted by the Party and supervised by officials of the Central Regional Electoral Commission.
Madam Ama Benyiwa-Doe, Central Regional Minister and the out-going National Women's Organizer swore the new officers into office.
She urged them to work hard and ensure that there was unity in the Party towards its victory in the 2012 Presidential and Parliamentary elections.
The Regional Minister advised them to cooperate with other constituency Women Organizers to work hard to bring more supporters into the Party.
Madam Hannah Tetteh, Minister of Trade and Industry, who chaired the congress, appealed to members of the Party to bury their differences and contribute their quota towards the 'Better Ghana Agenda' by the government.
Among personalities present were Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, a former first lady and President of 31st December Women's Movement, Madam Victoria Addy, a member of Council of State and Madam Betty Mould-Iddrisu, Minister of Justice and Attorney General.
They called for unity, peace and cooperation among members towards the building of a formidable Party to win future elections in the country.
