The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has assured Asanteman and the nation of truthful leadership at all times towards national growth and development.
“For almost 28 years since I became the occupant of the golden stool, I swore to remain truthful in my reign.
Undoubtedly, I have done that through the Almighty God’s mercies and protection” he stressed.
He added that it was through leadership of truth, integrity and support from all stakeholders that he had been able to serve Asanteman and the nation as whole to the best of his ability.
Otumfuo Osei Tutu said this while delivering his new year message during a New Year Service held in his honour at the Ramseyer Congregation of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana in Adum.
This year’s event was historic and a departure from the previous ones which were held at the Manhyia Palace at the beginning pf the year.
This years’ service which was held in the Ramseyer Congregation Church was graced by the Asantehene who was adorned in a beautiful white cloth together with his wife, Lady Julia Osei Tutu, their children and other chiefs.
As part of the event, the Asantehene, through his wife, who is a member of the church, presented an undisclosed amount in the form of a cheque to the leadership of the church to support the church’s activities.
He asked members of the church to continue to pray for God to grant him the needed wisdom and grace to discharge his mandate, saying “all that I request is for you to pray for me to discharge my duties as expected”.
The Asantehene used the occasion to caution Ghanaians against arrogance and pride, as they were attitudes that led to self-destruction, stressing “as a people, we should desist from disrespecting others due to our riches”.
“Everyone, no matter their financial and social status, is very important and must be accorded the needed respect. Despite being the Asantehene, I accord everyone around me respect, including the one who carries my umbrella”, he reiterated.
Further, he underscored the need for unity and love among people, as continuous enmity among them would make it impossible for such individuals to witness the glory of God in their lives.
“Some people are in church today but are at loggerheads with others sitting close to them in the same church. How can you ask for forgiveness from God while you hold grudges against your neighbour?” he said.
Delivering the sermon, the Moderator of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana, Rt. Rev. Dr Abraham Nana Opare Kwakye, expressed the church’s appreciation to the Asantehene for the privilege to annually host the event.
“On behalf of the church, I wish to thank you for providing us the rare opportunity to fellowship with you at the beginning of each year.
We value this privilege and will jealously guard and sustain it” he said.
Quoting from Psalm 96, he said although some Christians went through happiness and difficulties in 2025, they should sing a new song to thank and glorify God despite what they faced.
He advised them against lamenting about their past worries and challenges in the new year but should rather focus on thanking God for protecting them to enter the new year, saying “it is only when we glorify God that we will witness His glory in our endeavours”.
He reminded Christians to humble themselves before God in order to receive His blessings, noting “as Christians, we must exhibit humility before the Almighty Lord always”.
Additionally, he commended the Asantehene for the mediation efforts towards bringing lasting peace to Bawku, stressing “we have a lot of investments in the area and that it will inure to our benefit when there is peace”.
