The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Member of Parliament (MP) for Ablekuma North, Ewurabena Aubynn, has advised newly admitted pupils in the municipality to take their studies seriously, emphasising that education is the foundation for becoming future leaders.
Addressing pupils during the celebration of this year’s “My First Day at School” last Tuesday, she said: “This is the beginning of your journey.
If you stay focused, one day you will become teachers, doctors, engineers, and even leaders of this country.”
The MP, together with the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Adamu Musa Kalamu, and officials of the Ablekuma North Municipal Assembly, visited schools, including St Stephen RC, Saleria 1 and 2, Odokor Maclean 1 and 2, Kwashieman 1 and 2 Basic Schools, and McCarthy Hill Basic School.
At each stop, Ms Aubynn distributed exercise books, pens, drinks, and biscuits to the pupils, drawing smiles from the young learners.
Teachers and parents commended the gesture, noting that it would motivate the children to embrace schooling with enthusiasm.
For his part, the MCE assured parents of the Assembly’s commitment to improving the learning environment across the municipality. “We are committed to providing a safe and enabling environment for our children to learn and succeed,” he noted.
The event, held nationwide at the start of every academic year, is designed to welcome new entrants into the school system and boost enrolment.
In Ablekuma North, it left many children visibly excited—not only because of the gifts they received, but also for the encouragement and warm welcome that marked the beginning of their academic journey.
