Assembly members in the Tarkwa Nsuaem Municipal Assembly have confirmed Mr Ebenezer Cobbinah as the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE).
All the 42 Assembly members voted in approval of Mr Cobbinah’s appointment to give him 100 per cent endorsement.
The exercise conducted by Municipal officers of the Electoral Commission was smooth and peaceful.
Mr Joseph Nelson, the Western Regional Minister, administered the oath of Office, and thanked the assembly members for approving the President’s nominee.
He charged the MCE to eschew politics in the Assembly’s work and remain focused on what to do to promote development in the municipality.
Sheikh Issah Salifu Taylor, the Member of Parliament for Tarkwa Nsuaem constituency, entreated the Assembly members to give the MCE the needed support to ensure the success of his administration.
He called for closer collaboration between the assembly and its members, as that was the only way to achieve the success, they all needed, adding, “Let us put the interest of the municipality first and work beyond political lines.”
Mr Cobbinah, who was overwhelmed of his endorsement, thanked President John Dramani Mahama for giving him the opportunity to serve his people.
He also expressed gratitude to the Assembly members for the confidence reposed in him and pledged to work closely with all the stakeholders within the municipality to drive growth in the area.
“Given UMaT’s research focus, we will reach out to them for support because their evidence-based insights will guide our Assembly’s decision,” said Mr Cobbinah.
He praised Mr Benjamin Kessie, the former MCE, and vowed to complete all initiated projects during his time in office.
Mr Cobbinah, aged 38, before his appointment was a Principal Hall Assistant at the University of Mines and Technology (UMaT), Tarkwa.
