The running mate of the flag bearer of National Democratic Congress (NDC), Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, has stated that the next NDC government will implement policies that will benefit the ordinary Ghanaians.
She explained the party’s proposed establishment of a Women’s Development Bank which seeks to provide loans with flexible payment terms to female traders, describing it as an innovative initiative to empower women financially and improve the lot of women and households.
"This visionary initiative will address the financial challenges facing women whose trading businesses are collapsing”, she said.
Prof. Opoku-Agyemang stated this when she embarked on campaign tour to the Mallam Atta, Makola and Kaneshie markets last Thursday.
The tour was to enable her to interact with the market women, as well as to introduce the party’s policies regarding traders and women to them. During the tour, she met the leadership of the various markets where she had brief discussions with them.
Prof. Opoku-Agyemang said considering the prevailing economic conditions in the country, it would be suicidal to retain the New Patriotic Party in government.
She, therefore, urged all Ghanaian women to help end the economic hardship in the country by voting the NDC into power in the December 7 general election.
She said Mr Mahama had demonstrated to all Ghanaians that he cared for the ordinary Ghanaian, particularly women.
During a stopover at the residence of the Kaneshie Mantse, Nii Nikoi Ashalley I, the chief urged the flag bearer of the John Dramani Mahama, to keep to his campaign promises when elected as President on December 7, 2024.
“We pray you should come. We want to choose the best for the society,” he stated.
The Kaneshie Mantse said no nation had developed or prospered where its women were relegated to the background.
He extolled the role of women in keeping homes and nations, stressing that without the key role of women, societies would deteriorate.
