At least nine people have died of the disease in Uganda since the Ebola outbreak was announced by health officials on 20 September.

The US Embassy in Uganda said that "out of an abundance of caution" travellers would be redirected to the JFK, Newark, Atlanta, O’Hare, or Dulles airports.

Officials will conduct a temperature screening, ask health questions and report arrivals to local health departments, Reuters news agency reports.
