The Al Jazeera television network has said that its journalist, Ahmed El-Nagdy, has been released by the Egyptian authorities.
The move comes as the Egyptian President Abdul Fattah al-Sisi is visiting Qatar - where Al Jazeera is based - for the first time since the two countries restored relations last year after a long-running diplomatic dispute.
Mr El-Nagdy has been held in preventive custody for two years.
Three of his colleagues remain in detention.
The Egyptian government under President Sisi has targeted Al Jazeera over what it sees as the network's critical coverage.
