This follows a misunderstanding regarding the dates for the commencement of the various polling station elections.

Three plaintiffs, who are aspiring polling station executives took the issue to court to plead with the court to prompt the Election Committee to re-draw a timetable for the elections and announce publicly for the benefit of all interested parties.

According to them, the timetable for the elections has been changed several times, and as a result of the frustration, they want the court to step in to ensure justice and equity.

Speaking to Citi News, a polling station Chairperson hopeful for NPP for Council Lane polling station at KEEA, Francesca Aku Brown, who is one of the plaintiffs, indicated that some contenders were declared unopposed in the elections held earlier in some polling stations without the consent of their competitors, hence, their action.

“They don’t work with the timetable. You don’t hear anything, all you’ll hear is they’ve finished voting. It led to violence in some areas. We don’t want the same thing to happen here. That’s why we sent the matter to court”.

“They first set the date for Saturday and when we went, it didn’t come on. Then they said Tuesday and that also couldn’t come on. They are just frustrating us.”

“They are declaring a lot of people unopposed without the consent of their competitors. We want Justice to prevail”, Francesca Aku Brown stated.

The Chairman for the KEEA polling station election Committee for NPP, Percival Dennis Quaicoo, the defendant in the case, said they would respect the court’s decision and would continue the elections after the court processes.

“I don’t know where they want us to publish the timetable regarding voting. What we have done in the last few days is to inform the aspirants of the dates. This is politics. Anybody at all can say their mind but the truth is, an injunction has been placed on the elections”.
