China administered more than 6.5 million Covid vaccine shots on Tuesday, bringing the total number of doses delivered to people across the country to almost 2.5 billion.
The latest vaccine figures, issued by China's National Health Commission, come as the country reports 19 additional confirmed coronavirus cases.
China, which has administered the highest overall number of Covid vaccine doses since the start of the pandemic, has focused efforts on reducing serious infection in order to prevent the introduction of strict measures.
Even a couple of cases in China could trigger the same restrictions as hundreds or thousands of new infections. More than one billion people have reportedly been fully vaccinated in China.
According to the country's official figures, China has recorded a total of about 111,000 Covid cases and 4,849 coronavirus-related deaths.
