The Assembly Members of the Bolgatanga Municipal Assembly in the Upper East Region have unanimously endorsed the President's nominee, Mr Rex Asanga as the Chief Executive for the area.

All the 39 Assembly Members, both elected and appointed voted in unison to confirm Mr Asanga, who is a community developer, to steer the affairs of the Municipality.

The election was conducted by the Municipal Directorate of the Electoral Commission.

In his acceptance speech, Mr Asanga expressed gratitude to President Akufo-Addo for the honour done him and thanked the Assembly Members for the confidence reposed in him to lead the Municipality.

Mr Asanga noted that the overwhelming endorsement was a demonstration that the Assembly Members prioritized the development of the Municipality over partisan politics and pledged to act as a unifying force towards achieving the needed development, especially in their respective Electoral Areas.

"I come to this job with a background and experience of several years in the development field, and wish to assure members of this great house and all the stakeholders of my believe in partnership, participatory and inclusive development, so no one will be left out in our efforts to move the development of our Municipality forward," he said.

Mr Asanga assured members of the Assembly of exemplary leadership and advised them to be united in order to collectively and effectively develop the Municipality and improve upon the living standards of the people in the area.

"I therefore intend to give effective leadership and with your support and active participation in tackling some of the developmental challenges confronting us as a Municipality, we will succeed," he added.
