Spanish police have arrested a suspected Moroccan people-smuggler over the deaths of 14 migrants as they tried to reach the Canary Islands this month.
The 43-year-old suspect is thought to be the co-owner of a boat that ran out of fuel, food and water after three days.
Ten people from sub-Saharan Africa died drinking seawater. Their bodies were thrown overboard.
Four more drowned during a rescue in rough seas after 10 days.
A cargo ship, the Ever Grace, took on 33 survivors.
Earlier this week 47 migrants died in similar circumstances when their boat to the Canaries drifted 1,200km (745 miles) off course, with seven survivors washing up in Mauritania.
