Turkey has resumed the diplomatic contacts with Egypt it broke off after the Egyptian military overthrew Islamist President Mohamed Morsi in 2013.
Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said the foreign ministries and intelligence agencies were back in touch.
Turkey's own Islamist government was supportive of Mr Morsi.
Turkey and Egypt have also been at loggerheads over their backing for opposing sides in Libya's civil war, and over mineral rights in the eastern Mediterranean.
Last August, Egypt signed a deal on maritime boundaries with Turkey's rival Greece, which cut across an earlier agreement between Turkey and Libya's internationally-recognised government in Tripoli.
