A delegation of tribal leaders from eastern Libya has authorised the Egyptian military to intervene to protect Libya's sovereignty, Egypt says.
The tribal figures had earlier had talks in Egypt's capital, Cairo, with President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi.
The Egyptian leader had warned last month that his army might enter Libya if the country's rival Tripoli-based government and its Turkish allies attacked the city of Sirte.
So far, this hasn't happened.
Egypt has long supported eastern Libya's military strongman Gen Khalifa Haftar, who commands the Libyan National Army (LNA) force.
