THE HOUSE OF LORDS INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS AND DEFENCE COMMITTEE WILL THIS WEEK TAKE EVIDENCE FROM A FORMER HIGH COMMISSIONER TO SOUTH AFRICA AND LEADING RESEARCH FELLOWS ON THE UK’S APPROACH TO SUB-SAHARAN AFRICA AND ON SECURITY IN THE REGION.

In the first session questions will focus on the UK’s approach to Sub-Saharan Africa over the last two decades, outcomes of the UK-Africa Investment Summit and the UK’s trade relationships in the region.
The second session will look at peace and security in Sub-Saharan Africa, the role of non-state actors, including that of armed groups, the African Union, and whether the UK should focus its efforts on specific areas within the region.
