The church service, which was held at Kodie in the Afigya Kwabre South District in the Ashanti Region, was also used to pray for peace to prevail as the various political parties prepare to begin their electioneering towards the 2020 primaries and general election.

Special prayers were also said for the Electoral Commission, National Peace Council, security services and all other stakeholders so they could contribute meaningfully towards the organisation of a peaceful election.

The church service, which was on the theme “Our Lord will hear our voice and supplications”, brought together more than 700 supporters, constituency and polling station executives among other sympathisers.

Remain united

Speaking at the thanksgiving service, the Afigya Kwabre South Constituency Chairman of the NPP, Odeneho Kwaku Appiah, challenged members of the party not to allow the upcoming parliamentary primaries to break their front.

He explained that although it was time for parliamentary aspirants to contest in their constituencies, it did not call for fighting with their opponents in the contest.

He urged members of the party to vote for winnable candidates who stood the chance of winning or retaining their parliamentary seats for the party.

Face of God

The Reverend Minster in charge of the Bethel Methodist Church, Kodie, Rev. Augustine Mensah lauded the leadership of the party for seeking the face of God as they prepared to start their election campaign and also praying for a peaceful election for the nation.

He charged the leadership of the party to ensure that its members undertook their campaign devoid of insults.
