The Bawku Central Constituency Executive of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), on Monday expressed gratitude to Alhaji Hanan Abdul-Wahab, the Chief Executive Officer of the National Food Buffer Stock Company (NAFCO) for his support and contribution towards the welfare of constituents.
The Party at a news conference in Bawku in the Upper East Region, addressed by Mr Sanusi Sheriff Umar, the NPP Constituency Secretary, expressed appreciation to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for his "Priceless gift of the appointment of Alhaji Hanan, who continues to support us and some counterpart constituencies in the region."
Mr Umar said Alhaji Abdul-Wahab had formed a Foundation known as "Aludiba Foundation" which was a formidable "enterprise" and had ensured that "the enviable development needs of the people and the party within and outside are met with relative ease."
According to the Constituency Secretary, since the NPP was formed in 1992, nothing had been more of a blessing to the party in the constituency than the Aludiba Foundation.
"The Aludiba Foundation led by Alhaji Hanan held countless engagements and played an enviable leadership role by bringing everybody on board and made everyone seem much needed and so important towards the achievements of the goals of our founding fathers as a party."
Mr Umar recalled that the party in the constituency was characterized by frequent rancour, misunderstanding and mistrust in every activity of the party, "From the mistrust and the power play among executives and their proxies, to the cry of neglect by party grassroots."
Mr Umar noted that "today, am proud to announce that the unpleasant situation that led to the common rhetoric "NPP is dead" had become a thing of the past.
He said the Foundation had given "comprehensive meaning to the first class leadership" the President had promised, adding that, "We couldn't have asked for more. The Foundation has revolutionalised the essence of leadership and has thus kept the party on its proper footing, and made it attractive for prospective members."
Mr Umar thanked the CEO of the NAFCO and his Foundation for the several initiatives, including the provision of ambulance to the Muslim community, wide coverage of health screening and surgeries, and educational materials to Primary and Junior High School pupils, as well as the mediatory role that led to peace and great sense of inclusiveness among party members.
