The Western Regional Organisational Committee of the New Patriotic Party has commemorated the party's second year in office with a donation of assorted baby products and textiles to the labour and delivery ward of the Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital.
Monday, seventh January marks exactly two years that the Nana Akufo-Addo led administration was sworn into office to manage the affairs of the country.
The Party donated 50 pieces of wax prints, 50 packs of cot sheets, four dozens baby towels, a sack of Shea butter, boxes of Cussons baby soaps, antiseptics, pomade and diapers.
Mr Abdul Ganiyu Mohammed, Western Regional Organiser of the NPP presented the items to Dr. Richard Anthony, the Medical director of the hospital.
Mr Mohammed said two years ago Ghanaians gave “us the much anticipated joy and it is only humane that we as a party should remember that day and celebrate with mothers and babies”.
He noted that helping people, especially the vulnerable, was one cardinal principle the party believes in and had demonstrated that in its many programmes and policies to help raise the living standards of the people.
Dr. Richard Anthony expressed gratitude to the NPP for supporting the mothers and babies, adding that, “some mothers come to the ward without any delivery items and nurses have to move from ward to ward soliciting items from other patients to assist.”
He said the donation was very timely and would help the hospital to meet the needs of clients who are in dire need of such items.
Dr. Anthony hoped that the hospital would be supplied with modern equipment as well as a total renovation of the facility to meet the needs and status for a new Regional Referral Hospital.
