The Mfantseman Municipal Assembly (MMA) has gone the extra mile to significantly improve on the infrastructural development of the Municipality to include health, education and road.
The move, is to give strong support to the government’s efforts to grow businesses and open up the area to attract and retain investments for the well-being of the people. Mr Samuel Kittah, the Municipal Planning Officer said this at a Town Hall Meeting held at Anomabo-Taido to offer the opportunity to people in the communities to discuss the progress as well as the emerging issues of both the Central and local government.
It was organised by the Anomabo Parish Justice for Peace Committee (PJPC) in collaboration with the Municipal Assembly. As part of its commitment to promote quality health care delivery the Assembly had extended health services through the completion of new Community Based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compounds across the Municipality.
Some of the beneficiary communities are; Ekurabadze and Eguase where CHPS Compounds at the cost of GH¢57,633.92 and GH¢22,908.46 respectively have been built whilst the Assembly was in the process of procuring equipment and logistics for some unequipped CHPS Compounds valued at GH¢20,000.00. The facilities would also benefit from free extension of electricity and constant water supply to enable health personnel at the facilities function effectively.
On road infrastructure, bridges, culverts and drains are under construction and a total amount of GH¢59,771.40 would be used to fill and surface the Asabee market in Mankessim. The rest are the construction of 1000m storm drain at Mankessim at cost of GH¢3,000,000, reshaping of Mankessim Secondary Technical School road and that of Krofu Hospital road all in Mankessim. At the cost of GH¢60,000.00 and of a GH¢50,000 respectively.
Mr Kiran said the Assembly had also concentrated on building classroom blocks and teachers' bungalows including a 6-unit classroom block at Aisha, a 10 three-month classroom block at Yamoransa and a six-unit classroom click at Pomade. Others included a GH¢147,437.50 two-unit classroom block and KVIP at Saltpond, a GH¢74,997.80 two-unit classroom block each at Abonko and Dominase.
Mr Kittah explained that the construction of roads, health centres, sanitation, security were key to link the various farming communities to market centres was dear to the people and seen as vital to efforts at attracting agricultural investments. Mr John Kingsley Arhin, Assembly member for Taido Electoral Area appealed to his colleagues to give strong backing to the Assembly to aid efforts at fighting poverty for all to benefit from interventions and programmes meant to transform the living conditions of the people.
