He said ISD was the public affairs wing of the assemblies yet logistical challenges and lack of basic tools such as public address systems had limited its delivery, affecting dissemination of information on government policies.

Mr Adjah, who was addressing a town hall meeting organized by ISD at Kpetoe in the Agortime-Ziopae District of the Volta Region, said the lack of vehicles at the local offices contributed to low revenue mobilization.

“It’s time the assemblies considered the ISD an integral part of local governance and help keep us active in maintaining effective information flow for development”, he said.

Mr Adjah said the Information Ministry has increased the number of engagements under the 2018 town hall meetings, and urged traditional, and opinion leaders to actively participate in the engagements.

Mr David Dickson Dzokpe, District Chief Executive of Agortime-Ziofe, said the Assembly, following the request by Muslim leaders in the district was establishing an Islamic school for the Muslim community.

He called on farmers to join the Planting for Food and Jobs Programme to enhance their livelihood.

Mr Charles Agbeve, Member of Parliament for the area, said he would support the completion of an eight-unit classroom block project in the District initiated by Pencils of Promise, a Non-Governmental Organization, and would offer more scholarship packages for hardworking students from the area.
