In the view of the party, the country’s political dispensation required a vibrant third force and the CPP must work hard to fill in the gap.
In an interview in Wa in the Upper West Region (UWR), the UWR Secretary of the party, Mr Issahaque Sule, said the party had embarked on a massive membership drive to win more members to its fold.
He noted that the move was to ensure that all card-bearing members of the party paid their dues regularly to support the CPP to become the alternative party to the NDC and the NPP.
The decision for all Nkrumaists to come together, he said, was arrived at at their recent National Executive Council (NEC) meeting in Accra after a close observation that the two biggest political parties had not met the aspirations of Ghanaians.
The party observed that it was only the CPP, with the policies of the Founder, Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah, that could lead the nation to attain the desired aspirations of the country.
With their slogan “Alternative government now”, the party, he said, was leaving no stone unturned to take over power in the 2020 general election.
“This is why all Nkrumaists, including the People’s National Convention (PNC), Progressive People’s Party (PPP) and All People’s Congress (APC), must abandon all their differences and come together to unseat the NPP and NDC. The CPP has done it before and it can do it again if all Nkrumaists come together,” Mr Sule stated.
He also observed that the NPP and the NDC were leading the country in a diversionist drive and it was only the CPP that could unite the country, adding that: “Wherever they are, they must listen to the call that it is only the CPP that can deliver them.”
So for the start, he indicated, if they should get one committed member in each of the 29,000 polling stations, that meant 29,000 members.
From such a start, he said, the sky was going to be the limit, adding that they had decided to commence from the grass roots to prepare well for the next general election.
