The Seventh East Asia Congress organized by Malaysia's Institute of Strategic and International Studies (ISIS) opened here on Monday.
Themed "Positioning East Asia in the Post-Crisis World", the two-day congress attracted over 140 experts including policymakers, scholars and corporate executives to discuss the regional community building in East Asia.
Issues deliberated thus far focused on the ways of making East Asian economies more sustainable and the status of East Asia in the knowledge race.
Financial cooperation and the future of dollar in East Asia was also discussed in depth.
The relevance of East Asian Regionalism, free markets and sectarian conflict as well as pathways and pitfalls to good governance in the region
will be touched upon in the following day of the meeting.
