The construction of an eight classroom block, offices, stores and library block for the Roman Catholic Primary and Junior High School (JHS) at the cost of GH¢84,600 is progressing steadily.
Mr. Osei Kyei Mensah-Bonsu, Minority Leader of Parliament and the Member of Parliament (MP) for Suame, who announced these when he interacted with the people of Bremang in Kumasi in the constituency on Sunday, said the project that was being funded by GETFund, was nearing completion.
The interaction was to enable him to explain to the people parliamentary proceedings and government policies and programmes.
The MP expressed the hope that the completion of the project would enhance teaching and learning.
Mr. Mensah-Bonsu said the construction of a health centre for the town, which was at the lintel level would be continued to cater for the health needs of the people.
He said that the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) has not been abolished and asked the people to register with the scheme to enable them to have health care.
Mr. Mensah-Bonsu asked landlords, landladies and estate developers to stop building houses in water ways, which could result in loss of lives and destruction of property during heavy rains.
He said that the New Patriotic Party (NPP) was still a mass party and it would wrest power from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in 2012.
Mr. Mensah-Bonsu appealed to NPP supporters to close their ranks and educate the people about the party's manifesto and achievements to win more sympathizers for the party.
Mr. Obeng Poku, assemblyman for the area, commended the MP for ensuring the provision schools, electricity and repairs of roads in the area.
The people appealed to the MP to assist in fencing around the football pitch in the town to promote sporting activities and help them desilt choked gutters and water ways to avoid floods.
