The Kade District Magistrate Court, on Wednesday bonded
Kwame Begyina, a 65-year-old farmer, to be of good behaviour for one year, after pleading guilty of stealing plantain and maize from a farm.
Begyina was also asked to pay a fine of GHC 200 or in default face 30 days imprisonment in hard labour.
Presenting the facts of the case, Police Inspector Stephen Atsu, said the complainant, Togbe Anyorkporti and the convict reside at Asuom.
He said the complainant detected that somebody was stealing his farm produce but all attempts to arrest the thief proved futile.
The prosecutor said on June 5, Togbe Anyorkporti visited the farm and saw the convict busily harvesting bunches of plantain and maize and putting them into a sack.
The complainant therefore raised the alarm but the convict took to his heels, leaving behind the sack.
A report was made to the police and Begyina was arrested.
