The Asamankese circuit court on Wednesday remanded in prison custody Isaac Boamah, a farmer aged 24, who appeared before it charged with having had sexual intercourse with a three-year-old baby girl through her anus.
Boamah pleaded guilty and will re-appear on June 6.
Police Inspector Francis Cobbina, prosecuting, told the court that Boamah used to stay in the same house at Akyem Bomso with the victim and her mother so the little girl knew him very well.
He said on May 6 the mother and the baby were standing in front of their kitchen and as Boamah passed by, the baby cried out wanting to follow him.
The prosecutor said the mother allowed the baby to follow Boamah and later entrusted her in his care as she went to her farm.
He said Boamah sent the girl back to the mother at about 1530 hours after she had returned from the farm.
After Boamah had left and the mother was giving her her bath she detected she had been defiled through the anus, as she yelled any time the mother touched her anus.
The mother questioned her as to what had happened to her and she mentioned Boamah as responsible for her pains.
The mother and her family arrested Boamah and handed him over to the police where he admitted he committed the offence.
