Reverend Gabriel Wolanyo Nugba of the Agona Swedru branch of the Bethel Presbyterian Church of Ghana has advised supporters of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) not to exert financial pressure on the, Municipal, Metropolitan and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs).
Rev. Nugba gave the advice in a sermon at the Church's thanksgiving service in honour of Mr Felix Jacob Obeng-Forson, newly appointed Municipal Chief Executive for the Agona West Assembly at Agona Swedru.
He also advised Mr Obeng-Forson not lord his new position over the people, because the President nominated many people for positions of MMDCEs but he was rather approved overwhelmingly and must therefore not abuse the confidence reposed in him.
He urged Mr Obeng-Forson to offer himself and his new administration to God for wisdom and direction to develop the Agona West Municipality.
Rev Nugba exhorted members of the NDC to support the new MCE to reduce poverty, disease, hunger and other related issues confronting the people.
Mr Obeng-Forson on his part pledged to work hard to unite the people in the Municipality and promised to offer good governance and respect for human right.
The MCE enumerated some development programmes, such as the creation of new police post at Waraba Estate, a suburb of Agona Swedru, improvement in education, health facilities and the construction of roads, which he intends to initiate in the next four months in the Municipality.
Present at the service were Mr Eric Bediako Oppong, Municipal Coordinating Director, Chiefs of Swedruman Council and NDC supporters.
