Enoch Quaye, a commercial driver, who allegedly drove carelessly resulting in an accident that claimed six lives in December 2006, was on Tuesday granted bail in the sum of GH¢8,000 with one surety by a circuit court in Cape Coast.
Quaye, who pleaded not guilty to careless and inconsiderate driving, and negligently causing harm, will re-appear on April 21.
Prosecuting, chief Inspector Gershon Awwyeh told the court presided over by Mr Beresford Acquah that in December 2006 at about 1930 hours, Quaye was driving a Nissan Urvan minibus from Twifo Praso towards Cape Coast with passengers on board.
According to Chief Inspector Awwyeh, on reaching the section of the road near Jukwa Breman, Quaye lost control of the vehicle, which veered off his lane to the opposite lane and collided with an on-coming Opel taxi cab resulting in the death of six persons - one from his vehicle and the other five from the taxi cab.
