Mr. Mark Woyongo, Upper East Regional Minister, has said education is the major component for improving productive capacity of societies.
He said this in a speech read for him at the maiden matriculation of students of the Gbewaa Training College at Pusiga on Saturday.
Mr Woyongo said it was against this background that the government was committed to improving education infrastructure through the provision of libraries equipped with computers, lecture halls, staff bungalows, dormitories, laboratories among others.
He appealed to the matriculates to study hard to enable them to play their roles effectively and efficiently as teachers and in other areas of endeavour.
Mr Woyongo commended the students for not experiencing any unrest in the school and urged them to continue with that for other institutions to emulate.
The Principal of the College, Pastor Luke Abugri, appealed to the government to provide infrastructure including administration block, dinning hall, examination halls, staff bungalows and to renovate some of the structures since most of the buildings had never been renovated since the establishment of the school in 1953.
"Water is another major problem facing the campus. It would be appreciated if the water source of Pusiga is linked to the college," he said.
