The Koforidua District branch of the Women's Wing of the Jesus Christ of Later Day Saints on Saturday presented assorted items estimated at 20 million cedis to the New Tafo Government Hospital as part of activities marking the 163rd birthday of the wing.
The items included a bail of blankets, hygiene kits, toilet rolls and some food items.
Presenting the items, the president of the District Relief Society of the Wing, Mrs Comfort Adu said, the gesture was based on the fact that through the Society, members of the wing learn welfare principles which they put into practice to care for themselves, their families, the poor and needy in society.
She advised the patients to have faith in the divine healing power of God and assured them of the continuous prayer of the members of the church for their speedy recovery.
The Director of Public Affairs of the Koforidua District of the Church, Mrs Ethel-Dreda Boateng said, the women's wing believes that the gospel of Jesus Christ needed to be given a practical meaning through visits to the poor and afflicted to show love.
She said as part of the celebrations of the wing's anniversary, the group would organize a clean-up campaign at Akyem Maase township and later participate in some fun games.
The Matron of the Hospital, Mrs Doris Adobea Akuffo, who received the items on behalf of the hospital, thanked the donors and assured them that the items would be put to good use.
