A 25 year-old unemployed, who was found with wrappers of Indian hemp in his pocket when he visited an inmate at the Nima Police station, was on Wednesday put before an Accra Circuit Court.
Facing a charge of possessing narcotic drugs without lawful authority, Abubakar Osman, has pleaded not guilty.
Osman, also known as Abu Terror, was an inmate at the Nima Police Station but he was granted bail.
Luck run out on him when the police conducted a random search on him when he turned up at the Charge Office of the Police Station to see his colleague and was found to have on him cigarette, a lighter and two wrappers of Indian hemp.
Mr Paul Asibi Abagari, a State Attorney, told the court that on October 20, this year the complainants were on duty at the Nima Police Station Charge office at about 1900 hours, when Osman called at the station to see one of the inmates to give him food.
The prosecution said his demeanour created a lot of suspicion and he was ordered by the police to bring out every thing in his pocket.
Osman, who resisted initially, brought out the items, including two wrappers of dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, sticks of cigarette and a lighter from his pocket.
He told the police during interrogation, that the Indian hemp was for his personal use.
