Right Reverend Dr Yaw Frimpong-Manso, Moderator of General Assembly of Presbyterian Church of Ghana has called on Ghanaians to imbibe the qualities of unity and constructive criticisms that sustained human societies and churches.
He noted that the prevailing political and social climate emphasised on disunity, hatred, violence, destruction of life and property that could affect the country's stability during Election 2008.
Rt-Rev. Frimpong-Manso made the call when delivering the sermon on the theme "Vigilance" at the induction service of Rev. Dr Martin Bugri Nabor, as Chairperson of Northern Presbytery of Presbyterian Church of Ghana in Tamale.
He called on Christians to stand firm and pray for peaceful co-existence to enable God bless the country with God-fearing, selfless and dedicated leaders who would lead it into development, progress and peace during Election 2008.
Rt-Rev. Frimpong-Manso appealed to Ghanaians, particularly people from Northern, Upper East and West Regions to forget the past and forged ahead in unity and pool their resources together for development in truth and love.
"Christians should continue to pray for a peaceful, transparent, free and fair election on December 7," he said.
Rev. Nabor expressed appreciation to the General Assembly of the church for the encouragement and support and pledged to run an open administration.
He pledged to ensure major development changes during his tenure of Office to ensure Ministers posted to the Presbytery did not see it as a punishment.
Rev. Nabor born on June 15, 1956, holds a Doctorate degree in Theology from Columbia Theological Seminary, a Diploma in Education from University College in Cape Coast.
He has authored several books including, Female Genital Mutilation (FGM) and Self Healing.
