The Agona Swedru branch of the Barclays Bank, last Saturday, presented baby mattresses and other items to the Agona Swedru Government Hospital.
The items worth GH¢1,200, also includes gallons of paint, brooms, boxes of biscuits, brushes for painting and scrubbing, boxes of "kalypo" drinks, used papers and rubber buckets.
Mr Kofi Osibe, Manager of the bank who made the presentation at Agona Swedru said, Barclays, annually, shared its profits declared within the communities in which it operates.
He said the annual celebration week also afforded the opportunity of the staffs of the bank to interact with the people, as part of their social responsibilities.
Mr Osibe noted that Barclays had come to stay at Agona Swedru and was prepared to share the profit with the citizens of the town and its environs.
Mrs Rita Haruna, Principal Nursing Officer of the Agona Swedru Hospital, who received the items, thanked the management and staffs of the Bank for the kind gesture.
She said this was the first time a big bank in the Swedru Municipality has come to their aid and appealed to others to emulate the gesture.
Mrs Haruna said the hospital lacked beds and other facilities, and urged other institutions to assist the hospital to enable the doctors, nurses and paramedical staffs to perform their duties effectively and efficiently.
Later, members of the Love and Lonely club, a non governmental organization (NGO) based at Agona Swedru also painted the children's ward and cleaned the compound of the hospital.
