Mrs Joana Dotse Bansah, Manager of Jebric Catering and Decoration Services at Old Tafo in Kumasi, has advocated the formation of association for caterers and decorators to help champion their cause.
She noted that coming together as a professional body was long overdue and that the association would give them one voice and adopt effective measures to enhance their work.
Speaking in an interview with the Ghana News Agency in Kumasi at the weekend, Mrs Bansah said the formation of the association could also help caterers and decorators to unite and deliberate on issues that would promote their welfare.
The association, Manager emphasised could facilitate members' training and enable them to undertake the National Vocational Training Institute (NVTI) exams for the award of City and Guilds Certificates.
Mrs Bansah said the association would also ensure that various caterers and decorators were identified for the purposes of tax payments to revenue agencies and district assemblies.
Mr Ismael Kurt Opoku, a decorator at Pankrono, also said the formation of the association could help members to obtain financial assistance in the form of loans to expand their businesses and contribute meaningfully to society.
He said knowledge sharing on modern practices on the job would also be promoted when the all professionals come under one umbrella.
Mr Opoku promised to intensify education on the need to establish the association.
