Drivers, especially those plying the Suhum-Koforidua-Akate road have been advised to observe traffic rules and avoid overloading to prevent accidents as Election 2008 and Christmas approaches.
Mr. Fredrick Teye, chairman of the Akate Drivers and Traders Association, gave the advice at the inauguration of the association at Suhum on Thursday.
He observed that accidents occurred at Asesewa and Akate, especially during market days because drivers drove carelessly on the roads.
Mr Teye advised drivers who operate during the night to have adequate rest since fatigue could also cause accidents.
He commended government for awarding the rehabilitating of the Asesewa-Akate road for contract and expressed the hope that if work is complete, road accidents would be reduce in the area.
