The police at Afianya on Sunday intercepted an Urvan bus carrying 119 parcels of dried leaves believed to be Indian hemp.
The 119 parcels in black polythene bag was concealed in the bus with registration number GW 8931 Z, loaded with cassava heading towards Accra from Todome in the Volta Region.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Richardson Kumeko, Dodowa District Police Commander, told journalists at Afianya on Sunday that at about 1230 hours the bus being driven by Mordo Kojo, 25, pulled up at the police check point in the town.
DSP Kumeko said a check carried out by the police lead to the discovery of the parcels in the bus.
He said the driver together with his mate, Devine Tsino, 25, and three passengers, Francis Eklu, 22, a kente weaver, Lydia Dogbe, 32, fish monger, and Dzigbodi Dogbe, a 22-year-old nursing mother were assisting the police in their investigations.
DSP Kumeko said that Lydia Dogbe claimed ownership of the parcels, which she said she was going to deliver to someone at the Novotel lorry park in Accra.
