The government and parents have been urged to make the necessary investment to provide Information and Communication Technology (ICT) education for its citizens.
Mr Mohammed Muhamin, Principal of the Tamale Business College International (BCI) said with the advent of ICT it was essential that every school child got sufficient training in computer skills.
He said: "An illiterate in this modern world is not the person who has not gone to school but the one who is computer illiterate".
Mr Muhamin was speaking at the commissioning of an E-learning Centre for the BCI in Tamale on Thursday.
The facility was provided through the collaboration of BCI, the Ghana Leasing Company and E-toys and more, distributors of children's interactive educational products.
The E-learning Centre is equipped with the latest multimedia branded computers loaded with e-learning software suit, broadband internet facility, electronic interactive white board, digital library and video learning resources among others.
He said education in the 21st century could not be described as complete unless the educated thoroughly understood and appreciated the indispensable role ICT played in ensuring success in a highly competitive environment.
Mr George Sackey Jr., Executive President of E-toys and more said the learning centre would help the students to develop critical thinking, stimulate creativity, ignite imagination, correct slow development and build confidence in the students.
Alhaji Shansodeen Taimako, Director of BCI commended E-toys and more for assisting the school to get the computers and expressed the hope that it would go a long way to enhance studies and learning skills of the students.
