Colombian authorities seized two suspected drug smugglers Wednesday wanted by the United States for extradition.
Marcial Sanchez and Omar Cetre were arrested during an operation in the western coastal city of Buenaventura by the military and the Prosecutor's Office, the Colombian Army said.
"The organizations (these two people) belonged to trafficked more than 40 tons of cocaine hydrochloride from the coasts of Narino (a province bordering with Ecuador) to Central and North America in 2007," the Army said.
Sanchez was arrested when he was driving a taxi in Buenaventura, while Cetre was arrested in the pool at his home, also in the coastal city.
They would be handed over to authorities in Bogota "in the coming hours," the Army said.
