The National Youth Council (NYC) has advised the various political parties against engaging the youth to create confusion and civil unrest in the country.
Many of the youths could rather be trained in responsible leadership and political tolerance for the good of society, the Council said.
These were contained in a release issued and signed by Mr Emmanuel P. Assan, Western Regional Coordinator of the NYC at Sekondi on Tuesday.
The release said the various political parties must assist their youth to participate in peace-building, conflict resolution and the use of alternative dispute resolution methods to solve their differences instead of resorting to violence.
"We need a proactive youth who will use their skills and intelligence to discuss issues appropriately and find amicable solutions to national development," it stressed.
The release said marginalization of the youth in peace building efforts would have a negative effect on the future of the country and therefore suggested that the youths should be properly trained in peace, mediation and peaceful conflict management for the benefit of the entire country.
"The youth are the nation's greatest assets who need to be assisted to resist all forms of violence and must be engaged in quality human resource development programmes targeted specifically at the youth for their own development," the release added.
The NYC reminded the youth that their registration and certification with the NYC did not permit them to engage in political activities as a group in the name of the organisation.
