A total of 1,906 pregnant women have so far registered with the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) in the Bibiani-Anwhiaso-Bekwai District.
Mr. Kingsley Adjei Manu, the District Chief Executive, announced this at the second ordinary assembly meeting held on Friday at Bibiani.
He said with the implementation of the School Feeding Programme, school enrolment in the district has increased.
Mr. Manu said the Bekwai-Ashiem road, Pataboso-junction-Chiraw road and Bekwai-Ampenkrom road were being tarred at the cost of GH¢ 3,600,000 while a bridge was being built on River Ankobra to facilitate economic activities.
He said the assembly was executing Small Towns Water Project at Awaso and Chirano and promised that five mechanized boreholes would be provided for some communities in the area.
Mr. Manu also announced that the assembly was putting up a two-storey boys' hostel and said all communities in the district would be hooked on to the national electricity grid.
