A three-day orientation workshop for new Assembly Members at Half-Assini ended on Wednesday with a call on the government to equip Members of Parliament (MP) technically to enable them to monitor ongoing development projects.
Mr Lee Ocran, MP for Jomoro, who made the call, also urged parents to encourage their children, particularly the girl-child to go to school by providing them with basic needs.
Mrs Olivia Opoku Adomah, Western Regional Planning Officer, asked the participants to lead the people to initiate and execute development programmes that would enhance their livelihood.
She advised parents to take advantage of the capitation grant and the school feeding programmes to send their children to school.
Mr. Martin Yamikeh Ackah, Jomoro District Chief Executive, advised the new Assembly Members to use the knowledge acquired to enhance the operations of the assembly.
