The launch brought together AJTN Nigeria Chapter members, civil society organisations, community representatives, youth, and climate justice advocates who marched together in a united call to resist the development of new coal projects across Africa.

Coal is not a solution to Africa's energy needs. Across the continent, communities have already experienced the devastating impacts of coal—from polluted air and contaminated water to loss of livelihoods, displacement, and serious health challenges. As we work towards universal energy access, we must ensure that Africa does not repeat the mistakes of the past by investing in new coal infrastructure that threatens both people and the planet.

The NO NEW COAL AFRICA campaign is a collective call to governments, financiers, and decision-makers to reject new coal projects and instead invest in clean, renewable energy solutions that create decent jobs, protect communities, and advance a truly just transition.

We were honoured to have the AJTN Coordinator present at the launch, reaffirming the Network's commitment to supporting communities and partners working towards a fossil-free and just energy future.

A heartfelt thank you to Lekeh Development Foundation for hosting us and providing a platform to officially launch the campaign during the Niger Delta Climate Week.
