Twenty Ghanaian lecturers drawn from the Akenten Appiah-Menka University of the Skills Training and Entrepreneurial Development (AAMSUTED) and two other technical universities are attending a training in Nitra, Slovakia.
The training programme is part of efforts to equip them with contemporary digital marketing skills and innovative online pedagogical techniques to support Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) in Ghana.
It is part of a €394,185.00 Erasmus+ KA2 Capacity Building and the European Union jointly funded project, which led to the establishment of digital marketing laboratories in AAMUSTED, Cape Coast Technical University (CCTU) and Bolgatanga Technical University (BTU) to help in training TVET staff and students in digital marketing, as well as TVET industry players.
The Ghana team, comprising six lecturers from AAMSUTED and seven each from the CCTU and BTU, was therefore joining others from Germany and the host country for a weeklong training in digital marketing co-creation activities, skill training, and mentoring in areas including innovative tools, online pedagogies, and teaching techniques.
Ahead of leading the Ghanaian team to Nitra on April 26, 2025, the Dean of the Faculty of Applied Sciences and Mathematics Education (FASME) at AAMUSTED and Ghana National Coordinator of the Project, Professor Yarhands Dissou Arthur, explained to journalists in Kumasi that, members of the Ghana team would eventually become lead trainers of TVET students in digital skills using cutting-edge technologies that are aligned to the unique local Ghanaian context to aid productivity and make the TVET graduates competitive in a technology-driven global economy.
He was hopeful that the participants would take advantage of the training to prepare themselves adequately for the training tasks ahead to enable Ghana to benefit optimally from the project, also called “DIGIMARKT” and expected to run for two years.
Prof. Arthur said the project has also provided for about 40 Ghanaian participants to be trained in Germany in October 2025 to help in knowledge transfer and sharing beyond the ongoing training in Slovakia.
