The La Nkwantanang-Madina Municipal Assembly (LaNMMA) will host the maiden Regional Sanitation Day with a clean-up exercise at Madina Zongo Junction and its environs on Friday, February 28.
A statement issued by the management of the Assembly, copied to the Ghana News Agency, urged residents of the municipality and the public to take note and comply with the directives of the upcoming exercise.
The exercise forms part of the Greater Accra Regional Minister's initiative to promote environmental cleanliness, improve public health, and foster community participation in waste management, which also aligned with President Mahama's Reset Agenda.
As part of the directives, all shops and businesses within the municipality would remain closed from 0600 hours till 12 noon on Friday.
The statement said all shop owners and traders within the Madina Market, Madina Lorry Station, and residents around the Zongo and Ritz Junction areas must participate in the exercise.
Residents, shop owners and traders in other communities in the municipality should organise clean up exercises within their localities on the said date, it said.
"Any person or group of persons who failed to comply with the above directives would be sanctioned or prosecuted in accordance with the relevant laws," the statement.
"Let's come together and make La Nkwantanang-Madina Municipality, the Greater Accra Region and Ghana clean."
